Singer/songwriter Passenger has dropped a single slamming U.S. President Donald Trump‘s travel ban, “small hands”, proposed wall and “long f***ing wait” to make America great.
Released on Friday night, Passenger‘s latest song is dedicated to everything wrong with Trump.
In releasing the song, Passenger (Mike Rosenberg) posted a letter to Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and other social media channels, saying that whilst he’s “by no means an expert in global politics…we all have a responsibility to speak out about the things that we believe in.”
Rosenberg urged fans to take the song with a “pinch of salt”.
“I’m well aware that some of you won’t share the opinions that are voiced here and i’m by no means trying to force my way of thinking on to anyone,” he wrote.
But some fans have lashed out at Rosenberg, swearing off his music indefinitely.
“Your last video release was complete ignorance. You’ll never get another dime out of my pocket you moronic putz,” Brian A Whitehead wrote on Facebook.
While others cheered on the multi-award-winning artist:
All the monies raised from ‘A Kindly Reminder’ will go to helping the refugee crisis.
“Every penny that is made from sales , streams and views will be donated to a charity working on the front lines of the refugee phenomenon by providing search and rescue services in the mediterranean to the men , women and children fleeing persecution and violence,” Rosenberg wrote on Facebook.
Here’s the lyrics to Passenger‘s ‘A Kindly Reminder’ song:
Well I heard all about your travel ban
Just for countries that don’t fit your business plan
But how can you decide who cannot and who can?
You’re the president now, not a businessman
And I heard you say climate change isn’t real
Well that’s not how the world’s leading scientists feel
So go bury your head in the sand if you will
But the waters are rising around Capitol Hill
With 4 years in front and only 3 weeks behind you
You’ve somehow already managed to upset China
And if I could offer a kindly reminder
It’s not OK to grab women by the vagina
And maybe it’s cause your hands are so small
That’s why you have to build such a big fucking wall
Yeah you promised it wide and you promised it tall
Now you’re wanting the Mexicans to pay for it all
And you say that you’ll make America great
But I fear that we’re in for a long fucking wait
Cause you’re carving divides through every state
And you’re filling up hearts with fear and hate
Oh I know this song won’t change your thoughts
We’re more likely to see your tax reports
